Greg Harney - President
Greg Harney, who joined the U.S. Olympic Committee in 1987, had a distinguished 18-year career overseeing the USOC’s International Games and International Affairs divisions.
Greg served as the USOC’s Managing Director of Games and Organizational Support division for 15 years (1987-2002), responsible for all USOC delegation and operational needs at the summer and winter Olympic Games, the summer and winter Paralympic Games, the Pan American Games and the summer and winter World University Games.
In total, Harney has been involved in preparations for 12 Olympic Games (1984-2006) and directed the USOC’s participation in more than 30 multi-sport contests. For his Games efforts, he was recognized in 1997 by the USOC with the organization’s prestigious Olympic Shield Award, the only active staff member to have been bestowed this honor.
Harney concluded his U.S. Olympic Committee career as Managing Director of International Affairs (2003-2005) overseeing all USOC international relations, events and programs including formulating the organization’s international strategic initiatives and relations. He was also responsible for USOC’s bid administration efforts including the 2012 Olympic and 2007 Pan American Games international and domestic bid programs.
While at the USOC, Harney served as the U.S. representative to the International Olympic Committee’s NOC Working Group, the Pan American Sports Organization’s Technical Commission and the Association of National Olympic Committee’s NOC Technical Working Group.
Prior to joining the USOC, Mr. Harney served as Director of operations for the successful U.S. Olympic Festival held in Houston in 1986. Mr. Harney was also Manager of Venue Press Operations for the Los Angeles Olympic Organization plus was one of the Managing Editors of the Official Report of the 1984 Olympic Games.
A graduate of Arizona State University, Harney served as the school’s Assistant Sports Information Director for nearly a decade where five of his publications won national acclaim.
Francisco Campo - Vice President
Francisco Campo’s Olympic career began by working with the Organizing Committee for the 1976 Summer Olympic Games in Montreal (COJO) as a Site Manager for the sport of Football/Soccer. In this same year, he was the captain of Concordia University Varsity Soccer team which went on to win the Canadian National Intercollegiate Championship which earned that team a place in the Concordia University Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.
Campo’s Football/Soccer career included being voted as the team’s Most Valuable Player twice and in his final two years he served as a player/Assistant Coach. He also coached the women’s varsity squad for two seasons at Concordia University.
In 1985, Campo joined the Canadian Olympic Committee’s (COC) Technical Department at its headquarters in Montreal. In 1993 he became part of the COC’s Games Department based in Ottawa serving as the department’s Delegation Director for several Olympic and Pan American Games.
After the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, Campo consulted with several Cities and Bid Committees including St. John’s, Newfoundland (Women’s World Softball), Winnipeg, Manitoba (1999 Pan American Games), Toronto, Ontario (1996 Olympic Games), Vancouver, BC (Pacific Games), Santiago, Chile (Pacific Games), Cape Town, South Africa (2004 Olympic Games) and Torino, Italy (2006 Olympic Winter Games).
For two years (1999-2000), he served as the America’s Regional Manager for the National Olympic Committees division of SOCOG, the Organizing Committee for the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. While at SOCOG, Campo worked directly with all 42 NOCs within the PASO Region.
In 2001, Campo joined the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) where he had a successful four-year career serving as both a Director in the International Games Department as well as the International Affairs Division. In his capacity with the USOC, as well as with the COC, Campo served as the Organization’s prime liaison with the Pan American Sports Organization representing both Canada and the United States on several PASO commissions including the vital Technical Commission.
In addition, he was a Strategic International Advisor for the USOC for both the NYC2012 Olympic and San Antonio 2007 Pan American Games bids plus he managed and supervised the USOC’s successful America’s Athletes Training for Athens program that prepared 40 athletes and coaches from a dozen PASO Countries for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
Campo is fluent in English, French and Spanish and has vast knowledge and understanding of several other languages including Italian and Portuguese.
